New arrivals!

Hey there!

When I got back from Italy last sunday the first thing I did when I got home was checking H&M's online shop. Well, at least after I had some sleep. (My night flight had a 4 hour delay, so we'd been stuck at an airport that was too hot and too small. OMG! There was only 1 shop open!)
I knew they had to have some new stuff in since H&M has new arrivals every two weeks.
A couple of tanks (one of them with Lady GaGa on it, I had seen this on the web before and couldn't find it in stores, so let's hope it's cute!), black/white leggings and two pairs of gloves (Real suede and leather!).
I allready have the lace shorts at home because I ordered those before. I absolutely L-O-V-E them! I'll post a picture of me wearing it later OK ;) ?!

Morning!
Some time ago I told you about me applying for the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) and that I was very busy with all kinds of assignments for my admission.
Well, while I was enjoying the Italian beach last week I received a text from my mum that said... I GOT IN!
After waiting for almost two months, taking extra Math and Economics classes (needed those to even be considered) and having to write an extra motivation letter I kinda lost every bit of hope I would get accepted.
But totally out of blue my mum told me I was! I was so excited! Me and my friends went celebrating that night. Loved it!
I can't wait for school to start! Yesterday I quit my job, so this will be my last month working fulltime. It feels a little weird because I've been working there for more than 3,5 years but I'm sure this was the best thing that could have happend to me!
The only drawback is that I probably won't be able to buy any pair of Louboutins for the next 4 years!
Too bad! I'll just have to take a part time job and I'm sure my dearest shoes will be waiting for me when I have graduated! (But it will be tough... isn't there some kind of 'I can't afford Louboutins anymore' support group?!)
Anyway, my life is going to be very different for the next couple of years and I can't wait for it to begin!

Here are some of the assignments I needed to make;

The assignment was to show an image that would represent the sphere of your dream job.

Mine: Working as an Art/Creative director at a fashion magazine

Assignment: make a picture in which you show something that represents a current thing (Zeitgeist/Tijdsgeest)

Mine: H&M's Garden Collection. A very fashionable but at the same time sustainable collection. Sustainable fashion is getting more and more popular and H&M had a great way to participate to this trend.

Assignment: Show you're creative computer skills in one image.

Mine: I made this with ImageReady (Photoshop). I refered to the first assignment (my dream job), but here I obviously have reached my goal and became Art Director at the Dutch version of Vogue (doesn't exist... yet :P ). Since the whole assignment is suppose to be about me, I put myself on the cover.

All the other headlines are things that interest and inspire me. I think I really made it my own.

Back to Business!

Hey everyone!
First, I'd like to explain why my blog has been so dead the past few weeks:
July 3rd, I went on Holiday to Italy, like I'd mentioned before. So just before I left, I was writing a message that I would be gone for some time and when I was coming back again. But I was so busy packing and a little stressed out because of my (off course!) overweighted suitcase, that I totally forgot to post it! Yeah yeah, stupid me...
However, I came back last sunday and I promiss my blog will be up to date again from now on!

About my vacation, I had a really, REALLY great time with my two friends Lisa and Doreen.
*E 'stato Fantasticoooo!* Sadly I haven't seen much of Italy itself. Days were mostly spent on the beach because it was too hot to do anything else (arround 40 °C!!) and at night we went clubbing arround town.
We definately made a crazy picture taking record! More than 2000 (!) photo's! (Warning! Don't expect a lot of beauty and fashionable shots since we're all kinda... disturbed. :D haha!)
I'll post some pictures later this week.
For now; I promiss I will get back to work on my blog immediately ;) !

In Abcoude, where I watched the game in a bar, around 30 people ended up in after our 2-1 win from Brazil. It was hilarious!

We do like orange?!

Today is the day... The Dutch team will battle against Brazil for the World Cup '10. Hello?! Brazil!!! I'm sure this will be one of the toughest but also most exciting matches ever. I can't help it but I'm soooo nervous!

I'm guessing you all get the fact that I like to watch football. But there's always one thing bothering me.

Why is orange our national colour?! Why?! Nobody looks good in orange! (ok, not nobody... 'most' people... :P ) I'd rather wear light blue or something. But... a national colour can not be changed all of a sudden, just because some girl says on her blog that she doesn't like to wear orange. So I think I need to find another way to deal with this.

And orange doesn't always have to be hideous. That's why I've selected a couple of 'orange' items on Net-a-porter, that I do aprove of. Of course everything is a little pricy (what a surprise!), but most of the items I chose are on sale. Still expensive of course, but every little bit helps right?!

I wouldn't mind supporting the team wearing all this, would you?

Long live McQueen!

It has been almost 5 months since Alexander McQueen decided to end his life.
Through the brand his name lives on with Sarah Burton, McQueen's former design assistent, as the brand's new creative director.
This week we were given a sneak-peak of AMQ's Cruise 2011 (pre-spring) collection. The first full women's collection by Sarah Burton.
From what I've seen 'till now, I think she did a really great job. The collection is very feminine with lace and light fabrics like silk and chiffon, but gets strong because of the shapes and (mostly) dark colours. And 'that' makes it, McQueen...
I can't wait to see more of the collection! I'm also very curious about all the accessoiries that Alexander always made 'so special'. You never know of course, but I'm pretty sure Sarah will pull this off just right. What do you think? Is she capable enough to even McQueen's work?

Dress me up!

Hey there!
So, I'm leaving for Italy in three (!) days, and I've been deciding what to pack for days now.
Definately a lot of dresses, cute tops, jewelry and last but NEVER least... Shoes! I'm really having a hard time picking them out! Don't worry though, I'll be fine :) .
But clothes... What would I wear in Italy? When I think of Italian women I see colorful maxi dresses, lots of platform sandals and shiny sunglasses.
Platform sandals... check! Sunglasses... check! Maxi dresses... ummm...? Yup! We've got a problem! I don't own a maxi dress! What am I going to do about that?
Well, I won't be able to go shopping for one before I leave, so I guess I'd have to buy one in Italy then.
Hmm... I can think of worse things. Maybe I'll even run into a cute Italian footballer! Since they are out of the World Cup '10 and already home, they are probably shopping because that will make them feel less sad. O, wait! Is that just women?
Anyway, I looked up a few dresses that I like (and can't afford... dream on hon'!) Especially the first two would fit in my closet perfectly! Any sponsors?
What is your thought about Italian women and what are your 'must-take-with-you' items?
